NaPoWriMo day 14, bonus round: To Blake
My second poem today, and I'm working on a third. I'm sure I'll miss a day or two to make up for it.
TO BLAKE
I am the most mortal of men,
I've never dipped a toe
in Eternity, a robin
to my vision's a feathered
worm-grabber with mites, but still
I say good morning, as
one does to angels.

NaPoWriMo 2012, day 14: Views of a thing
VIEWS OF A THING
thirsty animals
afraid to approach the stream
where a blind hound guards
his master's body,
long since a skeleton
poking from the dirt heaped
by the new grave, the front half
of a plastic firetruck
mingled smells of woodsmoke
and coming rain
blackbird, robin, chickadee:
mockingbird's collage
